Monster Truck Racing: Round 1

The Race Course for the Monster Trucks would be a mid size side-by-side straight line drag, consisting of a dirt roller about 15 feet off the starting line, a long no-man's land to another ramp with one car in the back of it, and the finish line shortly after the end of the car.

Mopar Magic vs. bye

After years of being out of the seat of not just a Monster Truck, but the truck he actually used to own, Mopar Magic, local Delaware native Kenny Martin would start off the Racing portion of the show with a bye run.  Kenny stayed clean through the run, easily advancing to the Semi-Finals in Mopar Magic.

Towasaurus Wrex vs. Bigfoot

Off the line Woodcock got a good start in Bigfoot as Greg Anderson took somewhat of a nap over in the far lane in Towasaurus Wrex.  Over the first roller Towasaurus sort of stuttered before getting into the no-man's land and later the car roller where Greg tried giving it some gas but with no outcome as the truck dropped the forward gears in the transmission.  Anderson coasted across the finish line but long after Bigfoot did.

Woodcock leaves Towasaurus Wrex on the line as he takes off the first hill in Bigfoot.

Dave Woodcock in Bigfoot jumps the last hill to cross the finish line for the win.

Greg Anderson limps Towasaurus Wrex across the last car.

Mr. BIG vs. The Broker

Off the line it was Jim Leahy in The Broker getting a slight hole shot.  Through no-man's land Leahy settled down much quicker than Ron Schimco did in the near lane, bouncing around some while Jim Leahy easily accelerated towards the second and final jump to later take the win and move on to the Semis.

The Broker and Mr. BIG both coming over the first hill.

Jim Leahy takes The Broker across the finish line for the Round 1 win.

Ron Schimco finishes the course in Mr. BIG.

Demon vs. Snake Bite

Both trucks left the line at the same time but had different strategies from there on.  Rich Blackburne kept Demon slower and low over the first hill, while Eric Meagher went for a faster and higher jump off his first hill.  Rich's plan of attack put him ahead in no-man's land all the way up to the next ramp.  The speed that Meagher carried in Snake Bite let him catch up to Demon, and they both reached the second ramp at the same time, but the momentum that Snake Bite had let Meagher fly off the car ahead of Demon by only a foot, and take the win at the finish line by only about a half a tire length.  A great race, and a great come from behind win for the Bigfoot team truck Snake Bite!

Eric Meagher gets some air and speed off the first roller in the near lane as Rich Blackburne keeps Demon low over the mound in the far lane.
